I’m Phil McCutchen, a hands-on marketing manager with wide experience in nearly all of the disciplines related to marketing, advertising, design, public relations, trade shows and more. I decided to start this blog to share my thoughts, ideas, works and ramblings on my marketing experiences.
Most of my work has been with small to medium business to business firms in the technology and services fields, but over the years I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with businesses as diverse as Fortune 100 multi-nationals to middle-eastern gold smiths.
And I’ve got a few stories to tell that I hope you’ll find entertaining and/or informative.
While I will focus primarily on the key components of marketing such as positioning, branding, advertising, and public relations, you’ll also read about the graphics and word-smithed pieces I’ve developed that have helped small and medium sized businesses compete effectively. I’ll also discuss the staffing and recruiting industry and the software that drives success for those firms.
Along the way you can be sure that I’ll chase a few rabbits, which may at times seem unrelated. I hope that these might give you some insight into my thinking and philosophy on marketing and selling.
After all, marketing, in all of its myriad forms, IS selling.
And selling is what we all do to one degree or the other to achieve our personal and business goals and make our way in this world.
